Proponents of functionalism say that education serves an important role in socializing young people and helping to turn them into upstanding members of society…but many people argue that schools (either by choice or necessity) have to fulfill a number of other roles to make up for other parts of society (parents, religion, etc) not fulfilling their roles. Do you believe this? Give some examples.
